    Attend this family friendly cooking school and try your hand at some of the new Cook Wild Kentucky Recipes from the University of Kentucky's Nutrition Education Program.. Learn more about Kentucky's abundance of wild game and participate in fun activities as a family group.

    Cook Wild Kentucky is a new project from Kentucky Cooperative Extension. Healthy recipes are available featuring venison, rabbit, fish, frog legs, and more. At this event, family groups will prepare and sample a mini-version of one of the recipes. While all ages are welcome to attend, the hands-on cooking portion is most suited for ages 6 and up. Adults are responsible for supervising and assisting their children during the class. In addition, families will enjoy games and activities related to wildlife in Kentucky.

  • Outdoor Cooking with Cook Wild Kentucky

     

     

    Gather around the campfire at Robinson Forest and learn to cook over a Swedish Fire Torch or with a cast iron spider. Taste some of the new Cook Wild Kentucky Recipes from the University of Kentucky's Nutrition Education Program. Learn more about Kentucky's abundance of wild game and methods of outdoor cooking.

    Cook Wild Kentucky is a new project from Kentucky Cooperative Extension. Healthy recipes are available featuring venison, rabbit, fish, frog legs, and more. At this event, learn techniques for cooking meals over a Swedish Fire Torch or in a cast iron pot with legs. These cast iron pots are called "spiders" even though they only have 3 legs. All ages are welcome to attend. Children must be supervised by an adult. Sample several Cook Wild Kentucky Recipes. Feel free to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy around the campfire after class.

    Since the beginning of culture, nature has served as a prime source of scientific exploration and artistic inspiration. Join us for a nature walk right here in Breathitt County to learn about the plants and animals that surround us as well as the world of art and poetry expression of our beautiful outdoor environment! You will partake in creating your very own drawing or poem of your experience during our nature walk. All results from participants will be compiled into a colorful collection of art and poetry for all your friends and family to enjoy. Free of charge and no supplies necessary, although you are welcome to bring coloring utensils and cameras. Pack snacks and water for the journey!
